Houston, Texas — Today marks the official launch of Allies in Energy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community uniting business leaders, investors, and philanthropists in a collaborative effort to enhance energy and climate literacy through education and strategic investments.
Founded under the premise that education equals freedom, Allies in Energy is committed to empowering communities with the necessary framework to innovate, be productive, and drive social change toward a sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
At its core, Allies in Energy believes in the power of united action to catalyze transformation. By focusing on energy education and climate literacy, we aim to empower individuals, organizations, and schools with the knowledge, skills, and experiences essential for inspiring future leaders and ensuring the energy workforce is ready to meet the demands of a changing landscape.
"The role of education in shaping our energy future cannot be overstated. Through Allies in Energy, we are taking a balanced approach to inspire and prepare the next generation for the potential of energy-related jobs. It's essential that we come together in a collective effort to meet all future demands." — Lindsay Roe, President
The inaugural board and officers include a diverse set of leaders across energy. The organization will be recruiting additional leaders and volunteers in the coming months.
Our education-first approach is designed to foster innovation and implement sustainable practices across communities. The organization has launched with an aggressive goal of $1M in its first year to develop and grant funds to partners, including the inaugural launch of Houston Energy & Climate Week.
"As anchor host for the Houston Energy and Climate Week, Allies in Energy will create an inclusive week to reach multiple stakeholders. The week is a gift to the Bayou City. It's an honor to work with so many talented people and organizations to host." — Katie Mehnert, Board Director and Co-Chair, Houston Energy & Climate Week
